I’m probably setting myself up for a poking, but what does subscribing do for you?

If you subscribe to a thread, you can find it in your User CP (Control Panel). You can then go there to check for any new postings to threads to which you’ve subscribed. I have mine set to automatically subscribe to any thread to which I reply. In other words, you don’t have to keep looking for threads you’re part of; they’re all listed for you. And if you don’t actually have something to say in the thread, but want to follow it anyway, using “Subscribe to this thread” achieves the same tracking for you. You can also have it set to send an email to you whenever someone posts to the thread (and pick the frequency with which it notifies you) but I found that useless and a pain in the neck.
