Weapons (2025) Seen it Thread with Spoilers

Oh, well of course they’d Jaws this. Sure, Spielberg directed the first blockbuster hit, but they brought in others to do the sequels.

It’s a wonder they got the man to direct The Lost World!

Rewatched this last night with my wife, who definitely did not enjoy it. Got a little too weird for her, I guess. I think she was OK with it up until about the time Aunt Gladys shows up at Marcus’ house.

Josh Brolin is quickly becoming my new Ewan McGregor, an actor that for some reason I fail to recognize every time I see him. I know he looks familiar, I just always think he’s somebody else.

It could have been a variation of what Gladys used to control Alex: fear for his parents. The evildoers (if not using supernatural powers as Gladys did) could have communicated with each of the seventeen kids in advance, and instructed them to have a clock handy so they could run out of their houses, arms out, at exactly the same time. And if they failed to comply, their families would be harmed.

Maybe not likely, but not impossible.

Wait till you learn that his next project is, Resident Evil.

Wait, really?

Yeah really, in an interview I listened too he seems to be a genuine big fan of the series growing up playing them. And he also stated he’s never seen the other movies in the film franchise, so its going to be followed closer to the games more, and feature original characters in a wholly original story. He said its gonna be similar to RE2/RE4 but it isn’t going to feature Leon so I am excited to see what that even means.

Ooo, that might be a hard sell for fans. Well, here’s hoping.

The Silent Hill series has two good movies and a third in the way. It can be done.

Every interesting filmmaker gets pulled into a franchise eventually. This is just how things work now.

Sort of.

Ari Aster, Oz Perkins, Werner Herzog, and Joko Anwar have yet to be pulled in.

Yet. I mean, it could occur.

If you want to find good movies this days find out who is directing the newest blockbuster and look up what they did before.

Does it count, being pulled in, that Werner Herzog was in The Mandelorian?

Even when talented directors do get pulled in to do franchise projects, I don’t see it as a negative much anymore. Largely because we entered the next generation where these directors have grown with said franchise and have passion for the projects. Look at the Fallout TV show, they were genuine fans of the games and made an awesome tv show from it.

Well, sort of

Are you kidding? I literally own his Funko Pop from that.

A YouTube channel I sometimes watch mentioned this a specific plot point not only for this film but horror films in general. That any crime like this would be in the news for literally forever. This crime would be the only thing the town would be known for.

Also how do Justine and Archer explain to the authorities why she killed a cop and a homeless drug addict in some catatonic couple’s home with a bunch of kids milling around outside after destroying a bunch of property before tearing an old woman apart with their bare hands?

Will the police just chalk it up to whatever unexplained weirdness caused the school principal to freak out and murder his husband before chasing Justine around town like a lunatic until he was accidently run over?

I watched this movie on a plane recently (after reading the spoilers in this thread: sorry, not sorry). The multiple points of view definitely elevated a decent horror film into something much more fun and clever.

And of course the police chief is The Wiz and nobody beats him!

Wow…good catch. How odd. I haven’t seen that Seinfeld clip in 20+ years.
