I have performed at least a temporary fix to the broken screen door handle on my neighbor’s honey-do list. There are two reasons it’s a spit-&-chewing gum fix. [ol] [li]It’s 32° degrees out & I didn’t have any gloves thin enough to allow me the dexterity I needed with the small screws & was losing useful feeling in my fingertips.[/li][li]She’s my neighbor; not my honey![/li][/ol] Temps will more than double by Moanday, which makes it much more pleasant to make outside repairs. ---

Hi, honeys! We’re home!!! We left Ocala at 0330 in the dark of this morning. We got here a few minutes after 5, so 13.5 hours, including a lunch stop and multiple pee and/or gas stops. Taz is lying across my arms but I haven’t seen Ziva yet. I’m just glad to be home. Chiming in on the whole bad-times-pass theme. I recall kiting a check at Publix 2 days before payday because we were down to $20 in the world. Over our 30+ years together, we’ve had great times and terrifying times. Right now, I think we’re having an OK time, tho I’d feel better if I could land a decent temp gig. Our worst decisions over the years mostly involved buying/selling houses. Knowing what I know now, I’d not have bought at least 3 of the houses we bought, but in the end, it seems to be working out. And in 17 years, we’ll finally have this mortgage paid off… Stoopit mortgage. Yay for good newsies, hugs for less-than-good situations. Huzzah for being home!!! ---

The Reader’s Digest Version: Da bear **1** :eek:Wally\*World:eek: **0** The TL;DR Version: As y’all will recall, this mornin’ Twuck’s battery would not start. After I came back to da cave from irk, I jumped Twuck off and headed to :eek:Wally_World:eek: from whence said battery came. This battery is less than a year old and the replacement for one I bought at :eek:Wally_World:eek: two years ago. Both batteries had a three year warranty and neither lasted a year. :rolleyes: Anywho, Twuck and I head off to :eek:Wally_World:eek: and sure enough, when they tested the battery they got a replace battery readin’. DUH! Ok, so the guy looks at the battery and tells me it’s not a :eek:Wally_World:eek: battery. Da bear, standin’ there with :eek:Wally_World:eek: receipts in hand, begged to differ. Ok, his job is to install the things not sort this kind of stuff out so I tell him I shall go inside and deal. So inside I went to speak with the person at the counter at the :eek:Wally_World:eek: auto service center. I show her my receipts and tell her what the guy told me. She also told me :eek:Wally_World:eek: did not sell that type of battery. I replied that indeed :eek:Wally_World:eek: sold me the first one and replaced the second one for free. She told me she would get a manager which is cool, cause, this is the kind of stuff with which manager’s deal. Mr. manager also says to me that :eek:Wally_World:eek: does not sell that type of battery. I very politely pointed out the receipt from :eek:Wally_World:eek: that says yes indeed :eek:Wally_World:eek: sold me the first battery and replaced the second battery free. He then gets some kind of above him manager. She starts with the same thing. I go through my spiel again. Then, she calls yet another manager over. We go around again. I finally told them they could call every manager in the store and, hell, for all I care get every manager from the :eek:Wally_World:eek: in East Albeeny (we have two, count ‘em two, :eek:Wally_World:eek: round these parts), but they were still goin’ to replace the still under warranty battery they installed for free. Seein’ that da bear would not back down (btw, I was nice, didn’t raise my voice, but was firm in my stance), battery installer guy was called and told to go ahead and replace the battery. Oh and , miracle of miracles, someone recalled that :eek:Wally_World:eek: did indeed carry the brand of battery in Twuck but didn’t anymore as of this past Spring. So, the battery gets replaced and we go to get me checked out and on my way. First manager is still there with the person who works at the counter and he is doin’ whatever :eek:Wally_World:eek: managers do to settle everything up. So, he tells me my charge will be $10.28. I said no my charge would be zero. He attempts to tell me that the battery I’m gettin’ is a better than the battery they are replacin’ so there is a price difference. I then said to him, "oh you mean the battery you said :eek:Wally_World:eek: didn’t carry, but then magically remembered you used to carry? How would you know that if we have no battery to compare the price? Do we need to play manager roundup again?" The charge disappeared. So that’s all done and the manager leaves. I told the person at the counter I appreciated all she did and her patience with me. They have an order for VWife’s drugs that they’ve been sitting on for a month, and I haven’t been able to convince them that it would be easier to fulfill the order than to deal with an irate me every day. I think I’m ready to file pharmacy board complaints in 3 different states just for the additional “Fuck You” factor. MD because that’s where I live, CA because that’s where the company health policy is written, and MO because that is where the pharmacy ships from. If they really piss me off this weekend, I might add the NJ board to cover their corporate offices. ---

Yep, I’m home. Idiot dog started raising a ruckus about 4:40, tho I can’t blame her entirely. I forgot to dump a bag of pellets in the stove and it got down to 64° in the house. So I’m up, Higgs has been fed and is outside for a second time, and the pellet stove is catching up on the chill - at least in this room. One nice thing about being home - I can let Higgs out without standing watch. There are no fences in in-laws’ neighborhood, so we literally had to walk the dog so she could do her potty thang. Letting her in the yard is much better. 😃 We have to drop off the car for an oil change this morning, then go to Waldork and find the FedEx place - \*\*FCD \*\*has some motorcycle parts to pick up. It was a “signature required” shipment, due in before we got home, so we just told them to hold everything till we got back. And while we’re out, we need AAA batteries (I used the last 2 in a TV remote) and some epoxy for some fiberglass work my sweetie has to do. \*\*swampy \*\*- at least you didn’t have to suggest they disinter Sam Walton himself!! 😉 There’s Ziva hair all over the carpet, so vacuuming will ensue at some point, as will grocery shopping, picking up a weensy-little check at the little store, then depositing said check in the credit union. Laundry will likely wait till tomorrow, but I’ll get it downstairs and sorted today. So, yeah, good to be home… ---
