Also, it wasn’t originally a webcomic: you didn’t read the first five or six strips, you read the first five or six pages of the first issue. The first part of the story was written with the expectation that you’d have a whole comic book in front of you, and was paced with that in mind. Foglio didn’t try to bring the funny on every page, because he had the whole book to work in each element of what his story was going to be about. ---

What, no love for [Goats](http://www.goats.com)? Granted that the current strips are part of a vast storyline involving interdimentional pubs and demons and the Mayan calendar and Woody Allen’s laptop, but the earlier strips are gag-a-day and short storylines.
