Anyone have luck with sending fax via websites?

I need to send a fax may once every other month to someone, and I go to the nearest Kinko’s and wait in line. But usually when a fax is involved there is no time to lose, and fax back-and-forth may take place as documents are signed and counter-signed, etc.

At one time there were free outgoing fax services on the web.

I can’t see paying for a monthly service, although I would gladly pay-as-you-go a dollor or two per page.

If all you need is to send occasionally and not receive, a modem & free fax software might be a better bet. I use efax & have been very happy with it, but they don’t seem to have a pay-per-fax rate.

I don’t have a modem, I have cable. I don’t have a landline phone.

Unfortunately, I’m guessing this won’t be helpful for you. But for other folks, Windows XP has a fax feature, which is often not installed or activated when you first get your computer.

[It sounds like InterFax may be what you are looking for.](http://www.interfax.net/scripts/prices.asp?lang=en). There is no monthly fee and no setup fee. You just have to buy a prepaid package strating at $10 that gives you a certain number of pages. It is not expensive at all.

Here’s a place that did a comparison
[FAQ: How can I send a fax from the Internet?](http://www.savetz.com/fax/)

Here’s another
[Free Fax Services](http://www.fecg.net/fax.asp)

Be sure to check the service areas - some with incoming faxes only connect incoming to a few states, while some outgoing only send to a few countries.

But it looks like there’s some free services from everywhere and to everywhere.
