# Web page thumbnail creator - photo gallery

I’ve got about 300 jpegs that I want to put on a website. I don’t have the time to devote to splitting up the images into reasonable sized groups, putting them on pages and linking the whole mess together. I’d like to be able to have some means of creating pages of thumnails (perhaps 10-20 per page?) so my visitors can click on an image to get the full-sized image. I may have 5 megabit DSL, but my visitors don’t, so I don’t want to kill the dial-up users with a page of full-size images.
So, what’s a nice free way to do this? If it makes a difference, my html editor is Dreamweaver.

There’s a program called ThumbsPlus that’ll do most of that for you. I THINK it’s shareware, not 100% sure.

I just finished using Easy Thumbnails and Album Express from [Fookes Software](http://www.fookes.com) to put up about 80 - 90 pictures at [this site](http://www.bright.net/~tomb/travel/maui/index.html). The Album Express software is pretty easy to use, and has a variety of templates already set up to use. I liked it well enough to register it.

If there’s a Mac within reach, [iPhoto](http://www.apple.com/iphoto/) will do it. There’s a version that comes for free with every new Mac, so it should be easy to get.

I have Dreamweaver 4 (yeah, haven’t updated yet), and this function is built-in. Go **Commands \> Create Web Photo Album**. I assume the newer versions still have this feature.

A nice free site is [www.photoisland.com](http://www.photoisland.com)
nice way to store all those photos and it gives you a way to send invites, too.

So, all along, this tool was Right. There. Under. My. Nose? Cool beans! Minor caveat is that you also need to have Fireworks installed. (odds are very good that if you hjave Dreamweaver, you have Fireworks)

Just wanted to check back in and say the Dreamweaver photo album tool works very nicely. It launches Fireworks to make the thumbnails, and creates an index page of the thumbs, as well as a page per image with back/home/next buttons.
Now, I just need to mess with Paint Shop to sharpen, rotate and adjust exposures as needed.

Looks like I’m late; but I wanted to say that ThumbsPlus works well enough for me, and it is shareware. (At least it was a few years ago.)
