Does anyone know if there are any websites out there that describe tipping policies in different countries/regions of countries? I’m posting in the Pit because I know tipping is a touchy subject. Please don’t hurt me. ---

I don’t think tipping is _that_ touchy. This is clearly a factual question. ---

Please don’t hurt me. I assume you’re planning a trip abroad - in that case I’d suggest starting with a reputable travel service. Oddly enough AAA, if you’re a member, is both a good travel agent to deal with, and will have a lot of this kind of information available via their personnel. I didn’t see anything on their web site, though, sorry. The other place I’d suggest is Conde-Nast Traveller’s website: [www.cntraveller.com](http://www.cntraveller.com). But you’ll have to know exactly which regions you’re looking to research, and may have to wade through wordy articles to get the nitty gritty. It’s also possible Expedia or Travelocity can help you, but I’d still suggest dealing with a reputable travel agent first. This sort of ‘trivial’ information is a large part of what you are paying for when you deal with them. ---

I don’t know the answer to your question directly, and I think this can be moved to GQ with no problem. If you are travelling to any particular countries, you can ask here about the policies in each of them. ---

The Lonely Planet books offer information in tipping. On the [Lonely Planet website](http://www.lonelyplanet.com/) you can find the same information for each country under “Money and costs” (at least for Italy, which I checked). ---

In Japan, there’s no tipping. Now, ask the Mods to move this over to GQ, where you can get everyone to tell you which other countries don’t have tipping. ---
