# Wedding gift ideas for my boss

My boss is getting married this weekend, and I’m (reluctantly) going to the wedding. I’m at a loss as to what I should get him for a gift.

Any suggestions?

Data points: he’s in his early- to mid-fifties, is previously divorced, has two grown kids, and is marrying a woman a little younger than him, that has a 5 year-old son. That’s about all I know. I have no idea what his hobbies or interests may be. I’m also similarly mystified as to why I was invited in the first place, and only accepted the invitation as I thought I kind of had to.

Get him a silver butter knife that he will be obligated to thank you for and never use.

Seriously, wedding gifts are for a couple that’s starting a life together. At his age they probably are trying to get rid of crap. If they don’t have a registry, I wouldn’t bother bringing anything at all.
