The long-running 1969 commercial (about ten years) featuring little Anthony Martignetti of “Boston’s North end” running home in response to his mother’s call “Anthony!” from her kitchen window goes dark this week. Anthony Martignetti died, aged 63. People still recognized him from it, 50 years later. > **[Anthony Martignetti, star of iconic 1969 Prince Spaghetti commercial, dies at...](https://www.bostonglobe.com/2020/08/24/metro/anthony-martignetti-star-iconic-1969-prince-spaghetti-commercial-dead-63/)** > > Anthony Martignetti starred at age 12 in an iconic Prince Spaghetti commercial shot in Boston’s North End in 1969. > **[Family announces death of Anthony Martignetti, who starred in iconic 1969...](https://www.boston.com/news/local-news/2020/08/24/anthony-martignetti-death-prince-spaghetti-commercial/)** > > Anthony Martignetti, known for his iconic appearance in a 1969 commercial for Prince Spaghetti, passed away in his sleep overnight, his family announced Monday. “It is with a heavy and \[…\] > **[Anthony Martignetti from Prince Spaghetti commercial has died](https://www.boston25news.com/news/anthony-martignetti-prince-spaghetti-commercial-has-died/55TFFS77EBFCLCRUYG637DPBWM/)** > > Anthony Martignetti, who played the young boy from the iconic 1969 Prince Spaghetti commercial, has died at the age of 63. Several years back there was a new commercial, supposedly using a grown-up Anthony keeping up the “tradition” of still eating Prince Spaghetti, but the new commercial didn’t use Martignetti for some reason. Anthony was still around, able, and reasonably photogenic. He didn’t have to speak any lines to the camera, so it couldn’t be his acting ability, but they chose to go with an actor instead. My wife, Pepper Mill, was a dental assistant in the North End for several years, and she worked on Anthony (and his mother, too), so she’d heard the story\* \*Pepper Mill has had her hands inside the mouths of many of the famous and near-famous. ---

I remember those old commercials. Rest in Peace, Anthony. ---

The funniest comment I saw was, oh a lady in the North End leans out the window and yells “Anthony”, and only one kid responds?!?! ---

I just read an obit of this guy and watched the commercial. And seeing it again I was reminded of something I noticed years ago when it ran on TV; the kid seems to run _blocks_ to get home, so just how loud was she yelling?
