The plot with Malcolm and his girlfriend was rather weird. I have a very strong suspicion that it was a parody of some movie I’ve never seen. The part where he had a breakdown on the playground and all the kids circle around him and the janitor lays the coat over him seemed especially familiar. Any ideas? ---

Not sure, but I’m am absolutely shocked to find that an excellent TV show like Malcolm in the Middle does not have its own USENET newsgroup, or at least one with high enough traffic to warrant inclusion on Google. I thought last week’s episode was one of their best ones yet, especially with the Alaskan jail soap opera B-story. The main story seems to be a very obvious sitcom material: boy gets first crush on girl; girl sorta likes boy; boy gets obsessed with girl; girl tires of boy; boy goes nuts. However, it was very uniquely presented in that we never saw the girl and it was presented mostly through Malcolm’s internal dialogue. Mostly this is a glorified bump post to see if anyone else has a clue… ---

Did I see the same episode (with the girlfriend)? Admittedly, I wasn’t paying close attention, but I thought I remembered seeing the girlfriend kissing Malcolm. Or maybe I’m mistaken? ---
