You can see that others have suffered the same setbacks.
If we were going purely by Rights with no concern for the Wrongs it would make sense to pick every team to lose in hopes that you’d hit some of the doubtful ones. But being penalized for the incorrect guesses (when you make them) keeps things closer to honest.
And it’s only when there are head-to-head games of Top 25 teams that the “somebody must lose” issue appears. That’s another reason to make it Losers Minus Winners for a net score.
I hope that’s a little clearer.
