My voting is not at all influenced by my alma mater. Nope. Not at all. Ok, more seriously, while my beloved Yellow Jackets haven’t faced any real competition, they have looked good while rolling their cupcakes. Heck, our second stringer looked great after he got put in as QB. So I’m thinking we’ll be at least as good at last year if not better. Meanwhile, while Notre Dame did put the hurt on Texas (38-3? ouch) they were only one touchdown up on UVA, which is not exactly a powerhouse school these days. Plus their QB is injured. So they aren’t in the best of situations. Granted, the game is getting played in South Bend, but I’m still feeling good about that pick. The only other one that might surprise people is me picking Dook over Northwestern. Duke has been a good team the past couple of years. They could be good this year again - Cutcliffe has some magic in him. ---

Not ready to make my picks yet, but Ole Miss @ Alabama may decide the SEC West. Ole Miss has a good QB this year, and an explosive offense. Bama has a stout defense. Can’t wait to see this one… ---

I am thinking this will be a good week for the Top 25 with the loses only coming to teams that are playing other ranked team. Only upset I see: Auburn over LSU. LSU did not impress me much in their cupcake win over Miss State. ---

I hate picking against the Irish but losing your starting tailback and quarterback in back to back weeks make it hard to win even though both of, their backups have played week. One you add in the defense having to prepare for the triple option ito think that’s just too much prep to fit into a single week. ---

I find it interesting that so many in this thread think Bama will beat Ole Miss. That’s the way I voted as well, but I expect a close game that will be decided in the final minutes, and it could go either way. Ole Miss is high octane offense, with a very good QB and a decent to good defense. Bama is a stone wall run stuffing defense, but beatable in the secondary, and their offense is merely good. ---
