Whoop! This looks promising…

And for the 2nd Feud in a Row, Labtrash wins. Congrats. Throws Confetti. Trumpets sounding. Finally some competition for Swampbear.

Labtrash had 9 out 10 number 1 answers: Missing Minnesota as the number one state bordeiring Canada. Perfect Score would have been 380.

Knorf, I didn’t disqualify your entry, but Rebo probably would have. Please don’t add periods to your answers. It makes it hard to match them up with the other answers.

[RANT]

And there are some other posters who put a “space” after their answers. Please don’t do that either. It makes it doubly difficult to match because the space it is not obvious.

And there were some that put a technically correct spelling of “Hawai’i.” Things out of the ordinary just creates more work for the scorekeeper.

[/RANT]

These are answers that have a space at the end of it (except the answer to #10)

Nice win, Labtrash!

Still trying to figure out how Idaho is seen as a disaster free state, though. Don’t they get large forest fires, blizzards, earthquakes, floods and (probably) heat waves? Just because no one is there to experience them doesn’t mean that they don’t happen.

I was surprised that there were 25 different responses for “Disaster Free” States. 25 out of 50. I think I have heard that New Mexico has the lowest insurance premiums for disasters.

States that didn’t make the list appeared to hurricane prone states (SE states bordering the gulf, or Atlantic Ocean) or earthquake prone states (Cal, Alaska, Missouri :p)

4 people said Ohio. They obviously think nothing of having to unearth their cars from 2 feet of snow.

Also, I find it interesting that more people chose Tennessee for the borders more states question instead of Kentucky. I figured it would be even.

And tornado prone states (Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska, South and North Dakota)

Tennessee and Missouri both border 8 other states. Kentucky borders 7.

It was very hard for me to think of a disaster-free state, especially when blizzards and floods and heat waves are thrown in there. I wouldn’t have picked Idaho, for example, because I assumed they had earthquakes like Montana occasionally does. I almost picked Oregon, but then I remembered that little tsunami danger zone sign that I had seen when I visited there (the international symbol for “tsunami” is easy enough to understand–a huge wave with a little stick man in a futile run for his life.) That, and hello! Mt. Hood is a volcano! Assumed to be dormant, yes, but so was St. Helens long ago. I picked Ohio, but that was a total guess, since I’ve never been there. I wonder if there is truly a disaster-free state. I don’t think there is.

holy crap, 2 in a row?!?!

Ohio can have extreme cold and snow in the winter, debilitating heat in the summer, gets hit by floods and has had at least a couple of incidences of horrific tornadoes. Oh, and they’re also on the New Madrid fault, although I never experienced any earthquakes there.

I was thinking of my native Ohio for a bit, but figured the blizzards and occasional tornado were enough to disqualify it. Blizzards don’t make the news much since they tend not to cause much property damage, but they can result in significant loss of life. And I certainly wouldn’t have picked any state in the blast zone for Yellowstone. Sure, it hasn’t gone off… yet.

I lost to the Worm. When he thinks of going south he goes to Alaska. he wont go to Minnesota because it is too warm.

Why would I let that pesky fact get in the way of my otherwise sound theory?

I’m sorry I missed this one!

I’m back, and I’ll run a new one tomorrow, unless someone is ready today.

The Feud must go on. Because we are the Feud, the Proud and the Strong.

Glad your back. I feel your pain when scoring.

This has to have the lowest average scores ever.
