About 20 years ago, I was with friends at the 4th of July celebration on the St. Louis riverfront. McDonnell-Douglas had a fighter jet on display, with some employees from engineering or something in a booth giving out posters of the astronauts. My friends made fun of me for getting in line for the poster (I was 30 at the time), but they really cut loose after I got it. One of the people in the booth was [Charles Walker](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Walker), who I recognized and persuaded to autograph my poster. He said I was the only person who’d known who he was; my friends felt that was a sure sign of my incurable nerdiness. (I still have the autographed poster, too.)
