Weezer’s new single is a song called “Island in the sun” and I knew words to it the first time I heard it. Since I don’t have the cd it’s on, and I doubt they played it when I saw them in 97’ I assume it’s a cover song. However, at least 12 bands have songs by this title according to cdnow. From the liner notes of the Green Album… “All songs written by Rivers Cuomo.” The only cover I can think of that Weezer has done is the Pixies’ “Velouria” from the Pixies tribute album. ---
