I had two threads a ways back that were about my fear of flying and the process of overcoming that fear based on getting to fly in a bi-plane. A lot of incredible Dopers contributed tons to those two threads and were very helpful to me. Happy to report that, three years later, I’ve been flying willingly and comfortably ever since. I still have plans to get a tattoo someday (pending finding a design I like) commemorating the accomplishment of getting over that fear. ---

Everyone is comfortably settled in, **Pixilated** , her daughter, and now three cats. ---

I’m back in Americorps, about to head out to Texas tomorrow. I’m now 24 and currently trying to find a job for when I graduate in November. I discovered that I have some kind of thyroid disorder, for which my doctor prescribed Synthroid. I may or may not be able to join the Air Force Reserves. I did take the Louisiana State Police Exam and got a letter yesterday informing me that I had passed! I was dating a guy in New Orleans, but he called me the other day and told me he’s not cool with the whole long distance thing. We’ve agreed to being friends until we work out what we want. I adore him but I want a man who’ll wait 3 months for me to finish Americorps. I never did get bangs. I decided instead to let my hair grow. Dating the new guy did wonders for my self-esteem. ---

Many days, that’s followed by up to twelve tummy-trouble pills. I’m convinced her liver and kidneys must be cast steel, as they’re both fine after decades of that kind of treatment. Me, I get barfy from oversweetness from just one of those pastries. You’re SO much better off now, and I’m so glad for you! ---

I continued meeting people on EHarmony, but would only get together with one guy in person. One day a friend of mine called to tell me that a mutual friend of ours (we are all in Alcoholics Anonymous together) I had a huge crush on, was interested in me. We went out for coffee a few days later where we both confesed we had a thing for eachother for awhile, but didn’t think the other person was interested. We have been having a truly lovely time with eachother ever since, and I feel very lucky and honored to call him “boyfriend” 🙂 ---

When I first joined the Dope I started a [thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=445486) about my brother marrying a she-devil and asked for advice on how to stop it from happening. Thankfully, he realized what an idiot he was being and ended all contact with her. He’s still pretty emotionally messed up from what she put him through, and I have my doubts that he’ll ever enter into a fulfilling, adult relationship…but at least he isn’t with her.
