I’ve been getting a similar effect by just simply having multiple blankets/comforters on the bed, anywhere from 2-4, it also gives me the ability to adjust the weight/cushioning by varying the number of blankets on tp of or below me, I can sleep under all of them or on top of some and have better temperature control
I tend to keep the house on the cool side in the winter, but I cheat…
mattress layer has a heated mattress pad on it, then a flannel top sheet, and a regular top sheet on top of the flannel, then an electric blanket for those truly cold nights, then comforter #1, and comforter 2 (flannel) on top of that
most of the time, in the winter, I just have the heated mattress pad running (3 zone pad, foot and torso running, head off), and just have the covers for weight, but during subzero snaps, I crank up the electric blanket as well, nice and toasty and heavy
during the summer, I sleep on top of the other comforters and just have the flannel comforter on top, it’s not a heavily stuffed/insulated comforter, but the flannel is comfortable
My wife got a 8 kg (~ 18 pound) weighted duvet(1) eight months ago, and it does wonders for her sleep. The manufacturer recommended one tenth of body weight which would have been 6 kg, but 8 kg suits very well. It‘s like a permanent full body hug. Only in high summer it‘s too warm.
(1) We use separate duvets as we both heartily disliking fighting for duvet share at night. Fortunately in Germany separate duvets for double beds are the norm in hotels.
Mine is 17 lbs so close to 10% of my weight. Funny thing is it really doesn’t seem that warm/hot. I think it has glass beads but have no idea if that has any affect.
I also found out that my dog thinks it is the best thing to sleep under.
I can’t explain the psychology or physiology behind it but I sleep like a log with it. (I would have said baby but I could see this devolving into asking if I wear Depends at night).
