Americans however are used to being lied to by politicians. I question how much this whole series of events will even hurt him. I’d give him a 70% chance of carrying on and winning elections. He probably can’t rise beyond congress now, no mayor or governor in his future now IMO. ---

I agree that he probably won’t be Senator Weiner or Mayor Weiner or Governor Weiner. But he only has to keep his district, and that shouldn’t be too hard to do. The election is over a year away. This will seem like a stale issue by then. ---

What an asshole. When this story first came out, i was perfectly willing to believe that he had, in fact, had his Twitter account hacked, or possibly used for nefarious purposes by someone on his staff (heh heh). But his lame-ass answers over the past week made him look more, rather than less, guilty, and today’s performance was just fucking pathetic. ---

Another example of sex messin’ up lives. Or rather LIES and sex messin’ up lives. And stupid lies, to boot. Seems like it would be very easy to prove if someone had hacked into your whatever account, with today’s technology. Unless you work for the CIA or something. Now his career is tainted. And it seems like he is otherwise a capable guy. I think we need some eunuchs in Congress. Maybe then we won’t have these kinds of problems to distract us. ---

I would love to see a Congresscritter be very open about this kind of thing (provided they didn’t have a family to hurt or something). “Representative, is it true you sent a picture of your junk to a woman on Twitter?” “Hell yeah! Hey baby, if you’re out there, _winkwink_” ---

He is media savvy and should have known better. Nothing on the net is that private. Someone was bound to find out. This explodes him chances for bigger office, even mayor of NYC. He does not really know the ages of the women he was emailing. If any is underage, it will get worse . Nobody will think he can cut the mustard. The press will relish getting his buns being gone. ---

Look, I’ll admit right now that I have only a vague understanding of the female mind, but there is one thing that is clear even to a numbskull like myself: Women are not going to want to sleep with you if you email them a picture of your genitals. Didn’t go to his IT folks, did he? Didn’t go to his Capitol police department, did he? Man, if that’d been me, I would have raised the 10th circle of hell to find out how I got hacked. I saw the live thing with Blitzer and knew the weasel was lying when he didn’t react to the question about getting internal authorities involved. I’d have gotten one of those geeks on the air with me to assure my constituents that everything was being done to track down who did this.
