Weird and Unique Mnemonics

When learning Spanish, I was always confused with derecho (ahead-as in direction) and derecha (right-as in direction). Well, derecha ends with a “a”, which is normally feminine in Spanish. So, women are always right.

“My very energetic mother just sold us nine pickles.”
How I was taught the order of the planets (in distance from the sun) in elementary school.

“Kings play chess on fat green stools.”
Kingdom Phylum Class etc.

A math teacher taught us “Please excuse my dear aunt Sally”, but I decided to take a more morbid route. For me, it’s “Please exhume my dead aunt Sally.”

Also, every Mainer I know had to memorize the names of all the counties, by singing them to the tune of “Yankee Doodle”.
