On I-44 outside St. Louis, a few miles or so east of the I-270 interchange, you can see to your right (if you’re driving westbound) a building that looks like it might have at one time or another been a church. It’s all white, with columns on the front porch, but there is no steeple, cross, or any other insignia to indicate a church. The building looks sort-of like [this place](http://www.brynmawr.edu/iconog/nwl/p906111.jpg), particularly with regard to the front porch area. The building is all white. But here’s the weird part. On the triangular facade above the porch (sorry, I don’t know what it’s called, but you know what I’m talking about), there is a symbol that looks for all the world like the [infinity symbol](http://palimpsest.stanford.edu/byorg/abbey/ap/img/infinity.gif). At least, that’s the best that I can tell when I’m going 70mph. Any idea what this place is? I gather it’s a structure of some sort of religious significance, perhaps a gathering place or study center for an alternative religion(s)? 😕 ---

I beleive you are speaking of the relatively new Mormon Temple [http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/cgi-bin/pages.cgi?saint\_louis](http://www.ldschurchtemples.com/cgi-bin/pages.cgi?saint_louis) It has a steeple, but I don’t think the steeple is easily visible from 270. The place is so super-secret on the inside that the Temple has its own fire department. Or at least the trained fire fighters have to be Mormons. The view from 270 is quite striking. ---

If it’s near the Big Bend exit (just east of Lindbergh) then it’s a new structure - the relatively new mauseoleum belonging to Forever Oak Hill Cemetary. Now that **GythaOgg** has identified the building, I believe this part of it is called the _pediment_. ---

By the way, the white color is actually faux granite veneer. So faux that it came in rolls. Underneath it’s all 2x4’s and drywall. ---
