Oh, yeah. Really weird kid. Couldn’t make eye contact, didn’t respond when addressed by other kids, butt of all the jokes, walked all stooped over, bad grades, never left his house except to go to school. . . . I got better. ---

There was a quiet kid in my elementary school, nothing stood out about him. Except if anyone asked him about the weather. When asked about the weather he would go into a 2-3 minute weather forecast in great detail. Every single time. Once word got around recess became a non-stop recitation of the weather for this kid. Don’t know what happened to that kid so I don’t know if he grew up to be a meteorologist or not. ---

Lessee…I’m not this first guy “E.” was in my class or not, he might have been a year ahead of me. He was a sort of class clown, or wanted to be, but I only ever saw him do one bit of shtick: in allusion to a deodorant commercial at the time, would announce “One shot and I’m good for the whole day!” As lame as it sounds in description, he did have pretty good timing and delivery. I’'d be sitting waiting for class to start, and when nearly everyone was there but just before the teacher showed up, “E.” would waltz in one door, do his “One shot…” thing while mimicking spraying his pits, and light out the other door. I don’t know if you could really call him weird…more like a character. This was true also for “A.” He was in marching band, though I forget what instrument, and he could emit an amazingly lifelike simulation of a fire engine’s siren. He played a mean piano, too–I remember especially his rendition of “Fun, Fun, Fun” which really rocked. Given that the Beach Boys were famous for their vocals in particular, performing their songs as piano instrumentals was no small accomplishment.
