Early this morning Facebook did something to apparently large numbers of groups. Their names were deleted and changed to “group title pending” (you find a lot if them by doing a Facebook search) and you no longer get updates from them and they no longer shiw up in your list of groups. I did some searching, and I’m surprised that this is not being reported or cited in any of the normal news media. It strikes me as kind of newsworthy. Even though I’m not on Facebook. ---

I opened a new Instagram account. I got an email with a code to enter in order to open an account associated with that email. I entered the code. I followed three people I know, a professor, my sister, and the state council on the arts. I didn’t post anything. A day later, I received a message that said > Take action or lose access to susanXXX > Hi susanXXX, > > Your Instagram account has been suspended. Clicking a Review Details button took me to a page that suggested I had violated every standard. There was no button or link for an appeal. I went into the Instagram account. It wanted a phone number, which I grudgingly provided. I reloaded, and suddenly received a pop-up that essentially said, OOPS! OUR BAD! WHOOPSIEDOODLE! I don’t know if this is a related phenomenon or just Instagram trolling for my phone number. Either way, unimpressive. ---
