Weird non-commercials on Canadian broadcasts of US TV stations

So tho Canadian TV has so many fewer `commercials,’ the show “This Hour Has 22 Minutes” is a Canadian thing.

They just run PSAs. Which aren’t commercials at all. Nuh-unh.

Anyway, I used to watch the CBC with rabbit ears and I’ve never seen (or perhaps just never noticed) any of the odd hijinx mentioned in this thread. The only semi-odd thing the CBC would do is run Francophone detective shows. Is the CBC substantially different from other Canadian TV?

I’ve never seen the nature breaks in this area, (Although I’d like to!)

We’re on Shaw too. They donate a set amount of time to church’s etc for free ads, so I sometimes get to see the one for mine, which is kinda cool. I’ve even seen it during decent shows on Primetime.

Our American TV seems to come with the original ads, as far as I can tell.

zoogirl, how can Church’s, an American fried chicken company, get free ads on Canadian TV?

(Hint: Learn to form plurals. Apostrophes don’t cut it.)
