I knew a kid whose favorite two sandwiches were

1. Peanut butter and sauerkraut

and

1. Peanut butter and butter.

He used to speak longingly of peanut butter and sauerkraut, and I finally realized that his mother stopped making it because it was just too gross to countenance. He had a younger brother who sensibly passed on the above two choices, preferring the hearty crunchiness of…

Peanut butter and white sugar.
My wife used to take care of her younger brothers when she was growing up, and often sated their juvenile hunger with…a butter and sugar sandwich. Sort of a third-rate doughnut, I guess.

Anyone else enjoy weird sandwiches?

What’s with the peanutbutter weirdness?

I went rafting with a guy who went on and on about the virtues of peanutbutter and pickle sandwiches. I thought he was joking until he had one for lunch.

I have been known to eat beef jerky & cream cheese sandwiches. Once.

I have made myself a PBButter sandwich on occasion, and also a PBApple. And I also put butter and sugar on white bread (open-faced) for an after-school snack.

My dad told me about one of his childhood faves.

Very lean raw ground beef, a pinch of salt, and a heaping helping of fresh horseradish.

Mix all together, refrigerate overnight. Spread on sliced bread, wheat or rye.

I tried it, years ago. Odd, but surprisingly tasty. Wouldn’t try it today, though.

What was that one Ally Sheedy made in _Breakfast Club_? Butter, pixie sticks, and either Captain Crunch or Bugles?

My weirdest was cream cheese and grape jelly.

Peanut butter and sweet pickle relish.

Peanut butter and chow chow (mild, of course).

On whole wheat, naturally. Any other bread is just _wrong_.

My peanut butter/sauerkraut friend did also enjoy peanut butter and pickles. Must have been the salty/sour combination. That’s one taste I could never stand - reminds me of puke.

My cousin liked peanut butter and cheese, as mentioned by at least one poster.

The post about the Pringles chips jogged my memory of eating potato chips on pizza in the school cafeteria. We also used to make a sandwich out of the spaghetti and Italian bread they served every week. Mmmm…school cafeteria spaghetti sandwich…
