i like the scent that arises when a lightning bolt strikes in your immediate vicinity dont get to experience it much, but it is good ---

Gasoline–I remarked how much I liked it in my childhood days and my mother told me it’d just give me headaches. New tires. I agree with an earlier poster–the smell of toasted dust when the home furnace gets turned on the first time of the season is terrific. The kerosene smell of a jet airport. ---

Yeah, gasoline is a good smell. I like the smell of mimeograph ink, too, but that’s hard to come by these days! ---

I like the smell of creosote on wood. I like that nasty sulfur smell you get near the beach when the water is low in the swamp. I worked in an oil refinery, and the same stuff smells not quite right. I like the smell of the beach on the ocean side of the beach too. That smell inside a empty cedar cigar box. That weird smell in the Christopher St Path Station. It’s only a good smell there though. Dried cascade hops crushed between your fingers. ---

I just found out recently I come from a line of smellers. My father caught me smelling my mail about a month ago, its an odd habit. It turns out that my father and grandfather also smell their mail, some is better than others. I also smell magazines. I smell nearly anything I can get my hands on, I also have a very sensitive nose. I adore candles. Besides smelling various types of paper, my wierd smelling habits would be, under the hood of a car, or an old garage. All those old motor type smells. Reminds me of men or something… always a good thing. ---

Jiffy markers (I always have this picture in my head of me walking around with black rings around my nostrils after I’ve been sniffing the jiffies). Leaded gasoline (you youngsters who think unleaded gas smells good, you shoulda been around in the days of that sweet, oh so wonderful leaded). The pile of grapefruits in the produce section (a kinda spicy smell that grabs me every time I walk by there). ---

Creosote, sunshine, salt water and, weirdly enough, mackerel slime. Yup, it’s the fishing pier in Pictou in August. Pine chips and strandboard resin. wirefed weld spatter and cutting oil. Hey, you wanted them wierd. ---
