(I hope Im not getting in too late with this one.) My mother had friends named Melbadell, Viuka (pronounced vie-YOU-ka), and Belice. They were all central West Virginia country gals. ---

Usually, Thai names don’t rate a mention in threads like these unless it’s the common Thai woman’s name Porn, which is actually pronounced exactly like “pawn.” ---

I had a boss with the last name Graham. He married a woman named Candace (maybe Candice). She was from then on Candy Graham. ---

Meanwhile, on the subject of the thread, I once briefly worked with a woman whose first name was Innocent, and whose last name could also be an English word. And I was in the same office for a time with somebody with the unfortunate last name of Butts. ---

Erie, PA, has a Peter Hardner. Years ago the family business was Peter Hardner & Sons. The firm, if you will, constructed building frames of steel. The sign painted prominently on the firm’s building was: Peter Hardner & Sons, Erections. ---

I can only imagine the British reaction to the Hall-of-Fame pitcher Randy Johnson, known (because he’s about 6-feet-nine-inches tall) as the Big Unit. Not as weird, but archetypally WASP was a friend-of-a-friend named Treadwell Rummell III. (Apologies, TR, if I’m misspelling that.) ---
