OK, I thought this one took the cake, but I’d forgotten about the Summers clan. yeesh!

Anyway, I’ll share it anyway. Not _exactly_ a comic, although inspired by superhero comics: George R.R. Martin’s _Wild Cards_ series. (though they did make at least one comic based on it) Anyway, there’s a character named Cameo, who has the superpower to channel dead people by touching their belongings. (Technically, it’s just the imprint left on the belongings, not the real spirit of the person, because they only remember up to the last time they touched the object.) When she does this, she kind of “rides along” in the back of her head, while the dead person takes over. (and she can use whatever powers that person might have had, too.)

Anyway, she’s in love with a guy named Nick, who she’s never actually met because he’s dead and she has his fedora to channel him with. Then there’s Jonathan “Bugsy” Hive (who can transform in full or in part into a swarm of green wasps). He was dating a girl named Aliyah , a.k.a. Simoon (dust/whirlwind powers) who died. But Cameo was able to channel her through her earring and let her continue the relationship.

So Bugsy loves Simoon who sometimes inhabits Cameo who loves Nick, who also sometimes inhabits Cameo.

The Starbrand guy and his retarded\* fucktoy “Debbie-the-Duck” who is a mentally challenged woman/girl.

That alone–a creepy 30-something guy preying on a mentally disabled girl-is bad enough, but the writer, Jim Shooter, point-blank said that he based Starbrand on himself and “Debbie-the-Duck” was just like one of his old girlfriends.
\*I mean that literally. Developmentally disabled. She had an IQ of about 80…her mental age was about 7 years old and she thought it was \<quack\> hysterically funny to \<quack\> say “quack” at \<quack\> random points in a sentence \<quack\>"

Are you writing the [second part of this article](http://www.cracked.com/article_16230_the-6-creepiest-comic-book-characters-all-time.html), Skald?

Anywhoo… one of the creepiest/weirdest relationships in ALL fiction is probably between Golden Age Supergirl and the Super-horse Comet.

He is really in love with her. Even transfmogrifies into a humanoid. And back.

It’s been a while but I don’t recall Debbie the Duck being 7 years old mentally. I know she had self esteem issues and wasn’t smart but it didn’t seem that extreme.

Check out the panels where she thinks it’s hi-larious that she had to hide on the floor of Ken’s car for hours. And how she “dint” want to mess things up for him and other misspellings/grammar problems. 7 may be an overstatement, but she was certainly far younger mentally than her physical age and was retarded.

I agree with the **Intergalactic Gladiator** , even if the 80 IQ is accurate, around one in 6 people have an IQ below 80. It’s not brilliant, but it’s nowhere near the level where an adult would have the mind of a seven year old. And that Star Brand guy is no intellectual giant himself. It’s a weird relationship, but not as creepy as all that.

Odd spellings and weird grammar indicate mental retardation? Damn! That puts a whole new spin on Claremont’s run on X-Men, doesn’t it?

I think the official threshold for mental retardation is considered to be 70 (i.e., two standard deviations below the mean), not 80.

To be fair, you **DID** title this thread _“Weirdest relationships in **comic books** ”_ and there are other types of comic books than just superhero ones.

Hell, I’d say the weirdest relationship in comics would be Joe Matt and anyone else in any copy of **“Peep Show”**. 🙂

I dunno, both of them are completely insane (in fact, that’s their defining character trait), so one would expect any relationship either of them is in to be pretty well screwed. In fact, if anything their relationship is far more normal and healthy than anyone should have any right to expect.

No one cares about your sick fantasies, elf.

Do they even have a relationship? And if so, how is it weirder than Harley/Ivy?

In other news…it wasn’t WEIRD, but I shall mention Power Girl/Terra anyway on account of it being so funny and sweet.

Terra, Terra, Terra, Terra, Terra, poor Gar, Terra, Terra, Terra, Terra, Terra.

If I bring up Storm and T’challa will you send someone to beat the screaming jesus out of Reginald Hudlin? 'Cause seriously, putting two characters together simply because they’re both black pisses me off to no end.

And the only good thing about _House Party_ was Robin Harris.

Frankly, Storm is too awesome to have a boyfriend less than Thor. And I’m not sure even he’s worthy.
