> At the same time, it’s more likely that Woods will not come back. Oh, he may still win some tournaments, but no more than other good golfers on the tour. The scandal hit at about the age when most golfer’s skills start to deteriorate. He’s starting to knock on the door of 40 years old. Jack Nicklaus won only four of his majors after he turned 36; Tiger will be up to that age next year. Even if he gets back his game, it’s very unlikely to be at the level it was when he was ten years younger.

I agree- I think MOST of Tiger’s on-the-course problems would be just as pronounced even if he were a model husband and family man.

I love the goattee. It makes him look like Tiger Woods’ evil twin.

A fantastic article about why so many pro athletes in general go broke is [here.](http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1153364/1/index.htm) For those too busy to read the whole thing the reasons it gives are
–financially illiterate men who rely on friends or relatives rather than financial professionals
–spending on flashy (but risky) investments like clubs and restaurants rather than more boring investments like blue chip stocks
–bad divorce settlements (sound familiar)
–a desire to keep up your appearances rather than admit you are financial trouble and plan accordingly.
