I noticed today that I’ve started seeing ads on the SD when I view it on my iPhone. “Self,” thinks I, “wasn’t there something the other day about resubscribing?” Why yes, yes there was. And now I’ve missed the window. Damn. There goes my charter member status, and there goes my half-price subscription. That’ll teach me to move during resub time. Guess I’ll just have to deal with ads on my phone. ---

Sorry. I wish there were something we could do, but overturning the system for a few exceptions – much though we wish we could – requires far more technical resources than we have available. ---

As am I. It’s been a busy couple of weeks, and I haven’t sat down to post hardly at all since getting the reminder, and I only realized the deadline had passed when I saw the ads show up. They’re annoying enough that I’ll probably not be around much anymore. ---

I’ve not been spending much time here lately–partly because my life is presently insane, partly because spending time here doesn’t seem to bring me as much pleasure as it used to. But I did manage to squeeze in five minutes to re-up just in the nick of time. I say this not to gloat, but to sigh regretfully over what used to be. ---

Although I waited until a few days later, I still remember the renewal date as being April 28th, which is convenient, because it’s my dating anniversary with my husband (as opposed to our wedding anniversary). For current CMs worried about missing the next renewal, since new subs just get tacked on to the end of existing ones, just remember an incorrect early date as your renewal deadline and take care of it then. May Day is fairly easy to remember, IMHO, and that gives you 3 weeks leeway. ---

Yeah, I didn’t get the expiration email until 5/20. When I tried to resubscribe I got a weird error message. Thus ends the charter membership. How very appropriate. ---

Although it doesn’t affect me personally, I do think it’s sad that people who have stuck around here for about a decade (or more) lose their tag that recognises that. Couldn’t there be a new category: ‘ex Charter Members who are too disorganised or forgetful to resubscribe’? Public humiliation and recognition, all in one. ---

Seems like a much larger group of CMs lost their title this year, compared to past years.
