I’m not as mad as I thought I would be when Bush won. There comes a time when you have to face reality - we live in an overwhelmingly conservative country. I give respect to the Democrats in this election - they went with their ideals; there were real differences between the candidates. The public chose between them, and they chose Bush. Americans do not favor health care for everyone. They just don’t. I voted for Kerry, but I never agreed with his health care proposals. Americans do not favor same sex marriage. Ohio passed a ban against anything even RESEMBLING marriage for same sex couples. This one I am in complete disagreement with… but again, most people in the country are against same sex marriage. Americans believe Bush is better in the fight on terror. They want things like the patriot act. They are willing to give up freedoms for safety. That is their right. Basically, what I am saying is, when you have an overwhelmingly conservative country, then why shouldn’t it elect a conservative leader? Should a conservative county have a liberal leader forced on it? Now, I maintain that Bush is far too much of a divisive and incompetent/malicious extremist. But the alternative is not a liberal. What we really need is a more moderate Republican, someone like Arnold though not necessarily him in particular. Or we need a whole new party for moderate conservatives. I’ve given up on the Democratic party. ---
