Hey…at least you can look for other lawyer jobs. “Management consultant” doesn’t exactly translate to other jobs all that well and I have no desire to return to a life of “sitting on the beach”, “proactively adding heuristic value to core competecies” and paying a fortune to live in NYC while traveling out to the smallest towns in the country. Tried getting a job at McDonalds. They fired me because I kept making Process Flows using bugers as Action Items, McChicken Sandwiches as Decision Points and fries as the connectors. ---

Well of course. You should have used McNuggets as decision points. 🙂 As lousy as this situation is, I am flabbergasted by the amount of support I’ve gotten from folks here on the SDMB and my friends back home in Texas. A couple of them have generated reasonably good leads, and virtually every single one of them has made a real effort to help. I feel like Jimmy Stewart in _It’s A Wonderful Life_. Now if I can just get 'em to throw money in a basket… ---

Don’t be afraid to go around and guilt the partners and see if they’ll sweeten your severance package. A family member of mine who was laid off (from a bank) last week cajoled them into coughing up an extra $25k. 2. Don’t be ashamed to file for unemployment. $405 per week will feel good in your wallet. 3. If you have any suspicion that your termination was illegal, consider talking to a labor lawyer.
