It’s almost impossible to not become a bit of a birder in that part of the world. Besides going on several safaris in Botswana, Tanzania, etc., we lived in Kampala, Uganda and woke up to a cacophony of birdsong every morning. Our yard was always populated with hornbills, blue turacos, mouse birds, etc.
Which park? My advice would vary depending on where it is (for instance, there’s no malaria in *most *of the country)

If you want to spend some money I hear a hot air balloon ride over the park is amazing.
I spent 3 months in Africa, on 3 different safaris. It was fantastic. I bought a SLR (digital SLR’s were not available at the time) and a 300mm zoom lens. It was the trip of a lifetime.
