How is this not the female version of the Madonna/Whore complex typically attributed to men? Just like men supposedly want a perfect wife and mother to their children who is a Dirty Girl™ in bed, couldn’t it be said that women want someone who listens to them, is funny and a good provider, and who can ride them like a bad pony in the sack? 😉 When I take the time to dip into a related thread in IMHO, most women Dopers say they like a bit of the animal in some form or fashion, right? Both the men’s and women’s versions play up to the same stereotypes and conventions. So - if it is the Madonna/Whore Complex for men, what is it for women? The Seinfeld/Banderas complex? ---

I’ve had an ex who was like this. She was quite the tomboy, preferring t-shirts and jeans to dresses and skirts. Didn’t use a lot of makeup (didn’t need it either 😛 ), worked out, very outdoorsy, hated romantic comedies, and played video games. She confessed to me though that during sex, she really liked being tied up and made to feel helpless. When I asked her why, not that I was complaining, she said that it made her feel like a _real woman_, she couldn’t explain it other than it made her feel good to have to depend on someone rather than independent. She certainly wasn’t into it all the time, she never hesitated to initiate anything, but she liked that feeling of helplessness, the more the better. She was into doing things roughly and wanted me to smack her around a bit. I think that, compared to how she was typically, letting others make a _real woman_ out of you is a way to be able to ditch the responsibilities for a while and just let life happen to you instead of always being in charge. Yes, she gets a charge out of being in control, but many times its too mentally taxing to have to be the one to decide stuff all the time, even I feel that too. So its a relief to just lay back and let things happen for a while Either that or she was just a freak ---
