Wait…it’s the other way around, right? I’m a Charter Member but not from the freebee period.
No, I’m from the freebee period, but I’m not a Charter Member. Hell, I rememeber when Cafe Society hadn’t even been created. ---

Welcome back! Just don’t let it happen again. **SHAKES** twice is fine; after that it’s just playing with yourself. ---

You silly people! The day I go away I’ll still re-up. That way when I inevitably come back I won’t have to pay full price. Haven’t you learned anything? And welcome back **Shakes**. ---
No, I’m from the freebee period, but I’m not a Charter Member.
I’m sure there’s quite a few of us. I joined just 4 mos after you, **Mudshark** , but wasn’t on the board long enough to think it worth paying right away, when it went subscription. I lurked for quite a few months (years?) before ponying up. ---
Wait…it’s the other way around, right? I’m a Charter Member but not from the freebee period.
You must have joined just as it went to pay. So you got in with the first wave of payers but weren’t on the board when it was free. ---

Welcome back, **SHAKES**. FWIW, not all of us who meant to stay when the board went to pay could scrape the money originally to get the Charter, so you’re not completely alone out there. (BTW, **Bosda** isn’t the only one.) [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/well-i-tried-to-stay-away-from-this-place/420682.md?page=1)
