I used to always cite Eliot’s “April is the cruelest month,” but ti looks like we have a new contender. But, my apartment does a weekly happy hour (in our building) for the residents. You have my sympathies- mine showed up at 39 weeks on the dot. Came downstairs, poured a cup of coffee and went into active labour at the first sip. Then I delivered the baby. Then I had to get a spinal block to get the placenta removed, defeating the point of having the baby without an epidural. Sigh. ---

I’ll not go into detail, but I’ve got a consult to try to determine if what happened will recover naturally or if I’ll need surgery. It was a problem ignored through the pregnancy as something that would clear up when the baby came. It’s worse and the gp is clueless- she was using google in front of me. ---

Morbid update: At our Happy Hour yesterday, we learned a few more details - his age, that he wasn’t a resident (but we did learn the street off of which he lived), and that there was a cooler found next to him. Talked to one of my friends who knew the “other” person who committed suicide that night, and learned that he wasn’t found dead in a car, but instead in a park. Also, that he had a side-job for DoorDash (a food delivery service). He also was the same age as the person in my courtyard. While not confirmed, I’m thinking more-and-more that the two incidents are one and the same. I could see why a fully-enclosed courtyard could possibly be misconstrued as a park, and it would make sense for a delivery person to have some sort of container to keep the food warm / cold. Now his friends and I am just trying to figure out why he did it there (something we’ll probably never truly know). I understand doing it in a public place, so that your body is quickly found, but it still is just somewhat puzzling. ---

Trivial, but annoying: Between the mini-murder of crows (a manslaughter of crows?) that hang out in my yard and the two blue jays, I am really tired of being yelled at for a large part of the afternoon. The blue jays have also scared off the sparrows and cardinals. Dammit. ---

Sigh. 😕 I thought the point of delivering without an epidural was that it eliminated the possibility for the drug to get into the baby via the umbilical. Is it really to make sure none of it gets into the baby’s first few meals? ---

About 3 weeks ago the WiFi stopped working in the backyard-- after 8 years of it working just fine. Today I received an email from Fios that my current contract was up and would I like to re-new it? Also, here’s a new piece of equipment I could buy for $100 or rent for $6. It’s a WiFi extender. Bunch of fuckers. ---

I used to live in Flint and Grand Blanc and in both places the \*only \* cable company to “choose” from was Comcast. Now I live in Davison and the only cable company offered is Charter. I know there are competitors of the cable markets in their entirety but as far as intra-market competition, you’re shit out of luck. ETA: it’s especially maddening when you are watching cable tv from the only cable provider you can choose from and they allow their “competitors” to advertise on their networks. I hate Charter and I see a Comcast commercial _on_ Charter tv, I get angry. Because I know that option isn’t available to me. So why the fuck allow it on your cable network? And why want to advertise on these networks? ---
