**scot** , it appears from my reading of the OP that the guy **Terrifel** spoke to was just some dude in the shop, not the owner. And so what if it was? Are stupid people not allowed to have nice things, or is that a privilege that you reserve for yourself? (One wonders if the premise isn’t faulty, anyway. ;))

Boy, I swung both ways (in a moral sense, you perverts) reading the OP and following the thread thereafter, but in the end, I have to side with You Did The Right Thing.

For all the obvious reasons: you’re happy it worked out this way, these books were not on the shelf, mismarked (in which case, I would have grabbed with both hands), and the clerk, while obviously being helpful, was also not well trained by bringing out a box of books that had not been priced.

I hope the owner will (gently) set him straight, once he realizes what almost walked out of his store.

And not only that, you’ve written a very funny essay about the experience. I strongly suggest flogging it to one of the comic strip magazines and see if they’ll bite. It’s that good.

> Well… gawrsh. I appreciate the offer. By all means, drop me an e-mail and let me know what you’ve got when you have the time. I’ll double-check my own stash to see if I have a JLA #1 lying around, but frankly I don’t want to raise your hopes there.

All my Gladstone/Whitman/Harvey books have already been passed in my latest comic organizing spree - should be as simple as copying few lines out of the spreadsheet.

I think Scooge would have been on _your_ side, as a matter of fact.
