…I mailed the audition application form and fee to the Opera Academy this morning. I can no longer pretend I dont really want to do it (when the reality is that Im scared shitless…) If I make it I have a chance to be a professional opera singer…I think Im going to throw up… The actual auditions arent til March…if Im this bad now I’ll be in a padded cell by then… ---

Aw geez you guys, _snif_ Im touched (okay, you knew that, but Im moved too). Thanks for all the support. saraam and Chef, _lol_ I wish I dared… Im going to babble some more cause you guys are a captive audience…and I dont have to know if you leave the thread 🙂 I cant believe how nervous I am over this. It’s two whole months from now, and it’s not like Im inexperienced at auditioning or performing. I dont remember being this nervous before my audition to grad school - maybe because I was also so stressed with trying to graduate. I’ll be fine, going through my day, and suddenly I’ll remember that I have an audition coming up, and what it’s _for_, and I’ll clutch. I mean, I’ll stop breathing for a second. And it’s TWO WHOLE MONTHS FROM NOW!!! I mean, come on, Scarlet, get a grip. And Im also beating myself up a bit cause I wrote the wrong first name for one of the composers. It’s a rather obscure American one, who the committee wouldnt be likely to know anyway, but _still_…all the more reason for them to check…and see what a dork I am. _sigh_ Thanks again for the support…you guys mean a lot to me…and thanks for listening to my frantic babbling. Im going to take some Rolaids now…although a Valium might be more to the point… ---

good luck, and stop fretting - you’ll do great. by the way, an old friend of my parents was a concert organist. he told me that if he was ever _not_ nervous before a performance, that was the day he would retire - it would mean he no longer cared about his performance. i think of that often the night before a court appearence, and find it soothing. * * * and the stars o’erhead were dancing heel to toe ---
