Over [here](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=296586&page=2), I managed to drop a big old turd and hijack my own thread, which was dumb, and not what I meant to do. In an effort to not do that, I’ll just say here that on Tuesday, I found out I have cancer. It sucks, but there’s an excellent chance that I’ll have a full recovery. I wasn’t actually trying to attention whore (although maybe now I am, I dunno) - but this has been weighing on my mind, and it sort of slipped out - classic case of “you should read twice - post once!” DOH! I wanted to clear it up here so people don’t think I’m being flip or insensitve about cancer. Anyhow - sorry if I freaked anyone out in that other thread. I started it for a purpose, and that purpose wasn’t for me to grouse about my medical problems. This one is. 😃 ---

**Alice** , despite the fact that you have an excellent prognosis, you wouldn’t be human if you weren’t a bit stressed about it. And you’re right, MPSIMS is for **just** this sort of thing – let it out, and let your friends here do the electronic equivalent of coddling you, bringing you virtual iced teas and massaging your feet. ---

Ooo. I loooove Iced Tea… I was really reluctant to post this here actually. As sad as it is, it seems like something that some people could hold against a person, or use as a weapon. I hope you have a full remission. My stepdad is in his second incidence of cancer and even though it was one of the more easily cured varieties (Hodgkin’s?), it took a lot of him and us. Hopefully, your first remission will also be your last… it’s a horrible disease andd I’m sorry you’ve been struck with it. Good luck. ---
