Well, that sucked. (witnessing a car wreck)

[QUOTE=InternetLegend]
When I read his obituary, I considered going to the funeral, but I thought better of it. The only time I saw him is not the moment any of his family wants to think of when they remember him.

I’m not second-guessing your decision, it was your decision and you took the best course as you saw fit, but do consider that while what you saw was horrific some people might have taken comfort from the fact their loved one did not die alone, or from the fact that he was most likely unconscious and not suffering. (Of course, there’s no need to say that the icky parts would go unsaid – too much detail is not a kindness)

[QUOTE=Broomstick]
Ultralights are pretty damn minimal - originally powered hanggliders, even the more advanced versions didn’t have much more structure beyond landing gear. They are sufficiently open that, were one so foolish as to not buckle one’s safety harness, falling out is a real possibility. Such accidents have occurred.

Yes I know*. I was more interested in the quotes around “aircraft,” was it because it was an ultralight which doesn’t look like it should be flying or was there actually no aircraft involved (e.g., a euphemism for a jumping suicide.)

*In Australia ultralight is actually the name given to a standard looking aircraft below a certain weight whereas microlight is used for the powered hang-glider type machine, but I know what you’re talking about.
