I like to use a drill to open my wine instead of a proper corkscrew, possibly because I watched Home Improvement at a formative age. Everything is better with power tools! ---

The push-the-cork-into-the-bottle method, in my experience only works if you vent the cork first. A drywall screw and a pair of vise-grips usually works pretty well as a makeshift corkscrew. SS ---

I once tried to inject air with a needle and syringe to push the cork out and found out that the easiest thing is to insert the needle all the way through the cork and then aspirate the wine into a 60 cc syringe. You can then inject it directly into the glass (or, I suppose, your veins). As a bonus, if you use a small enough needle you don’t have to recork the bottle! ---
