Well, we have a friggin' mouse.

Our problem is mice inside the cars. Ours just shredded the glue traps. I used the traditional spring-loaded whack 'em traps, which worked pretty well. Also set out poison (the waxy bar type); of course, the problem, as someone already said, is that you can end up with a stinky dead mouse somewhere inaccessible.

Final solution is to cover all entry points (i.e, the fresh air inlet to the heater/defroster) with wire screen, held in place by silicone sealant. Also, we had a talk with the cat, and he’s been better about catching them.

Jesus. Bats aren’t hard to deal with. Just open a door and they’ll fly out. Also, bats aren’t any danger to you. They’re not interested in you, they just want to get out, because they’ll starve to death inside. No, they will not hit you, their echolocation is too good for that. Also: am I the only one that thinks bats are cute?

We had mice once and the only thing I can add to NoClueboy’s list is to check under the eaves. Under the eaves of our house there were these little diamond shaped cut outs that vented the attic. They were originally covered with screen but the screen had dry rotted with time and most of them were open. We had to re-screen them.

When we did kill the little suckers (had our pest control guy put poison out for them) one of them died on Thanksgiving day, underneath the stove in which we were lovingly preparing the Thanksgiving turkey. The smell of decaying mouse and roasting turkey put almost the entire family off dinner. They can die in the walls too. That’s the drawback of using poison and the smell lasts for a long time.

Good luck.
