Americans _love_ British accents. They generally can’t distinguish between the various ones the way you can (I think that we think that you have two accents: Queen’s English, and cockney), but we love them all the same. We commonly attempt to imitate them, generally unsuccessfully. British accents sound intelligent and polite, somehow, and particularly witty.
