Who woulda thought? **DDG** , just because **Coldfire** didn’t take copious notes or because moderating and tracking offenses isn’t as organized as you seem to believe doesn’t mean the infractions don’t exist. Bookmarking Jr. Modding examples in case anyone needs to be reprimanded in the future strikes me as pretty impractical. While it may be a good idea, it would add a lot of overhead to the jobs of the mods to track minor infractions, below the level of warning, just so they can have a handy list of cites where behavior was inappropriate just in case a warning needs to be issued sometime in the future. Mental notes are usually sufficient. Let go a bit **DDG**. It’s a growth opportunity. Enjoy, Steven ---

This is sad. **DDG** , I think that this behavior is beneath you. Seriously. It’s becoming petty. I know because I was there almost a month ago. I couldn’t believe what people were saying. But then I saw people who have always defended me, who have stood by me and supported me saying the same things. And that really made an impact. I hope this makes one too. ---

The coffeehouse analogy has bugged me since I read it, and I think I’ve finally figured out why - it’s just as one-sided as your view of the real world, **DDG** This is probably how other people see your analogy - You find this cool old big house, filled to bursting with mostly interesting people. Its separated into rooms, some that look like a classroom, some that look like an arthouse cafe, some that just look like a normal living room. And people keep coming up from the basement with a slightly hollow look in their eyes, but you decide to check out the other rooms in the house before going down _there_. You’re barely in the door when someone grabs your hand and puts a cup of coffee in it. You look around for the homeowners to ask where the garbage can is, but someone jumps in front of them and snatches the cup from your hand, all the while giving you a disgusted look. The person says the can is in the kitchen. Someone else says they were just in the living room and they saw a can in there, also. The first person says the can is in the kitchen, and she’s never heard of anyone doing otherwise, so there’s no can in the living room. She walks away to toss out the cup. You decide to go check out the other rooms in the house when the person follows you, telling you what you can and can’t do in each room, all because you asked where the garbage can was. The people in the basement start yelling for the person to leave you alone, and the person starts yelling back at them because they weren’t up here helping. One of the homeowners shows up and asks the person nicely to calm down and stop following you. Based on your experience you either leave the house completely, or avoid the know-it-all person. Either way you remember the behavior. Now somewhere between your analogy and mine lies the truth. I know its possible you don’t see your mothering as wrong. Lots of people dont. But lots do. And they had the right to express those thoughts. ---

Lib, is what you’re getting at the thing where you had the words “StraightDope” offsite, and you had to take it down, because it made it look like the SDMB and the Reader were affiliated with the project? Because if so, I don’t see how the fact that it made you so depressed that you had to leave the boards for a while was _my_ fault. 😕 I’m sorry it happened, and sorry it made you depressed, but I don’t see how it was my “fault” that you got depressed and left. Any more than if I got depressed and left the boards because of Jar’s thread–it wouldn’t be _her_ “fault”, as such–it would be mine, for deciding to stop posting here. If that’s not it, then I’m stumped. ---

Coldfire, just one question: Why is it all right for _you_ to talk about putting people on your Ignore list, but it’s not all right for us? Sua: I do understand where people are coming from, actually, but it’s difficult for me to accept because I’m really not the Mother Hen-type IRL at all. So I’m honestly baffled at the way people are interpreting my strolling around picking up coffee cups as “bossy interfering pretentiousness”. However, I do promise to change. Here’s the thing … Jeez Louise … it’s a friggin’ message board. So you got pissed. Hey, I get pissed some time, and I’m sure I annoy the snot of some people. But if I ever got pitted, I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t have an emotional break down. And if I ever find myself composing a Part the I, Part the II and a Part the III to try drag my sanity back from the abyss, I’m just going to give up the ghost and check into the funny farm. Everybody is being very adult and dancing around the main issue here but I’m bored of that now so… come on Lib, spill the beans. What did DDG say that got you so upset? Of all the criticisms levelled at DDG in this thread, no one has accused her of being rude or excessively forthright in her views. I could understand someone getting upset by something Collounsbury said to them but DDG…? Did she google you into submission or something? ---

Jesus freakin Christ DDG, I think your old username persona is taking over lately. I have read this board daily since right after the AOL days, and frankly, I have never seen you in such a condecsending, petulent, “screw you” mood. After I waded through your epic 3 part OP, all I got from that is “Fuck everybody who disagrees with me, and Coldfire is an asshole.” He made a statement of policy, which was backed up by the administration, and yet you continue to give him shit. I agree with the above posters who advise a break from the boards. You are taking this shit waaaay to seriously. ---
