Wellington bomber over Edinburgh?

It didn’t work for me earlier when I posted (using Firefox 2.0.0.14 if that helps) but does now, so we’ll chalk it up to a blip with blipfoto.

That’s the end of a nearly 70-year-long era, then, at least in the UK.

I did not realise that DC-3’s were still in commercial passenger service in “first world” nations. (Other than fire fighting water droppers, or sumthin like that.)

Impressive.

They’re not in regular passenger service. They are just used for special “nostalgia flights” and other one-off’s.

Yes, you sometimes see them used for joyflights and special charter flights. A typical setup might be to have the aeroplane owned by a group of enthusiasts who then conduct charters and joyflights to try to offset the cost of owning and operating it.

Which is ridiculous as the aeroplane was never designed to fly at altitudes requiring oxygen or pressurisation. I hope someone sees some sense and makes some changes to these rules. In other countries old aeroplanes may conduct passenger carriage under special dispensations from the normal rules. Normally it’s done on the basis that the passenger understands the risk.
