# Wendy's and Gay Rights

The thing about the founder/owner of Chick-fil-A being Mormon seemed incorrect to me. After a little bit of quick research on the web, I’ve come across a couple of cites of Truett Cathy (the founder/owner) being a devout Southern Baptist, not a Mormon.
On this site ( [http://www.nationalbible.org/nbw/97/w7lead02.htm](http://www.nationalbible.org/nbw/97/w7lead02.htm) ), I found this:
“When not managing his company, Mr. Cathy performs community service and teaches a Sunday School Bible class to 13-year old boys. He has taught this class for more than 40 years in his local Southern Baptist Church.”
I found roughly the same information somewhere on Chick-fil-A’s own website ( [http://www.chick-fil-a.com](http://www.chick-fil-a.com) ).

Sorry about the slight hijack in my previous post about Chick-Fil-A. (Sort of a hijack, sort of not.) Personally, I agree with Divemaster, that I appreciate someone who is willing to forego some profits because of personal beliefs.
Now whether or not Dave Thomas of Wendy’s is in the same boat, I have not got enough knowledge to give an opinion. Spicy Chicken Sandwich is mighty good, though.

Thanks for the correction. I’m not sure where I heard the Mormon info from.

I have a different reason to boycott Wendy’s.
A couple of years ago, I drove through the drive-thru window and bought a burger deal and found a 1-inch greasy bolt in the middle of the burger.
Needless to say I was pretty disgusted and lost my appetite.
When I went inside to the counter to ask for a refund, they refused. They offered me another burger to replace the “bolted” one. I called the store manager over who told me it wasn’t company policy to issue refunds.
I showed him the bolt and then asked him if it was company policy to put hardware in the food and I repeated my demand for a refund. He refused. So I phoned the regional manager, who ignored me. I finally called the corporate President for Canadian operations who finally mailed me a cheque to cover the cost of the meal.
I have never gone back to Wendy’s since.
