Boy, all the other fast food joints sell countless _chicken_ fingers, but you sell one \*human[i/] finger…
Sheesh, hypocrates.

My coworker had an interesting theory that it probably belongs to an illegal worker who couldn’t report the accident as on the job for fear of reprisal. They probably went to the hospital and reported it as some other kind of accident, thus never alerting the authorities to a finger-licious batch of whatever at the XYZ plant. Why the place of hire wouldn’t toss the batch is still a question. But this explanation makes the most sense to me of any speculation I’ve heard.

I manage a restaurant. In San Jose. The morning after this, I had a very hard time not putting the following on my specials board.

Soup of the Day, Chili, no fingers.

I didn’t think that upper management would find it nearly as funny as I do.

Interesting. On the radio news today, they said authorities _were_ investigating the possibility of the finger coming from the dead aunt.

Reminds me of that old joke: What does the Pink Panther say when he sees a dead ant?

Dead ant, dead ant…dead ant…dead ant dead ant dead ant…(sung as Pink Panther theme song)

In my home town, a Red Robin restaurant served a salad with the tip of a severed thumb. The preparer sliced it off, and it ended up in the salad, but after the commotion in the kitchen, someone who didn’t know that the salad was prepared by the thumb slicer grabbed it and served it. Uck… Found one of the many news pieces done on it after it happened:

I’m going with the “She planted it.” theory. And I say this despite the fact that I, to this day, refuse to eat pork 'n beans because my great grandmother once found a human finger in a can of same.

This was, alas, before the days where you could find a finger in your food and become an instant millionaire.

Now, if the lady DID plant the finger, it would definitely leave her open to be sued not only by Wendy’s, but by the people dining with her that day. Not only did they have to endure the thought that they had just consumed appendage-riddled food, but then she vomited.

Man, talk about an unsatisfying dining experience.

As has already been pointed out, the meat in Wendy’s chili comes from hamburgers that are cooked on-site, in the store. The practical reason for this is that it is safer to store this way since they don’t have to worry about storing the chili in the freezer and thawing it when needed (always a tricky proposition when you’re subject to health department standards). They would have to have found a four-fingered employee, in order for the finger to have come from Wendy’s. There is a tiny possibility that the finger was in the dehydrated mix, but I would think that a honking chunk of flesh would have been pretty evident in a pouch of powdered mix.

HA! I live in that town, and that’s the Red Robin that we go to at least once a month. We LOVE Red Robin.

After it happened, for about two months, we had no problems getting a table. It was great! And they had reduced prices, too - originally it was a part of their 35th Anniversary celebration, but they kept the prices for awhile to get more people in.

As my husband always says, it’s probably the cleanest restaurant in Stark County right now. We’re probably better off eating there than at any other restaurant in town.

E.

I too have eaten there…small world. I for one have had no problems at all with it. Now, do you live in the general Canton area, or in Jackson Twp? I haven’t lived there in almost a decade, but my parents and sister still live there, and I graduated from Jackson in '96.
