We have continuous texts from the New Kingdom. On what are you basing your gut feeling, anyway? The Pyramid Texts?
I think our first texts that even concern tomb looting come from the First Intermediate period. One shouldn’t assume that looting didn’t exist prior to that. We just don’t have a ton of documents in general much prior to that.
