There may not be a D in America, but there is a D in Dieppe. I hold Canada’s performance in World War II in high regard for that alone. I’ve been as critical of the current state of the Canadian military as anyone else (anyone else remember that trainwreck from last year?), but that in absolutely no way detracts from their contributions in World War II. ---

Meh. Not a joke, not funny, can’t imagine how it could be construed as meaning to be funny, unless it was a follow on to a running joke. I vote total ignorance of the subject matter. Not to worry, I’m sure there’ll be a Hollywood interpretation along sooner or later that places American involvement in its rightful place. But at least he’s had the decency to apologise.
