“On Thursday, the Arkansas Supreme Court ordered a judge to consider whether newly analyzed DNA evidence might exonerate the three men convicted in the 1993 murders of three West Memphis Cub Scouts. The justices also said a lower court must examine claims of juror misconduct, which opens the door for defense attorneys to bring in all evidence not presented in the original trials. The court voted unanimously for new hearings.”

Wow I can’t believe it’s been that long. Paradise Lost was one of
the first documentaries I had ever seen and was shocked.
I am glad these boys are finally getting their chance.

I’m surprised that there isn’t more response given the history of threads about this on the board.
I take it hasn’t made national news.
My thought has always been that a bunch of red neck cops caused this since they dressed in black and listened to heavy metal.
I’m hoping for justice, whichever way the DNA evidence points.

It’s been a long time since I saw the documentaries about this case, which caught my attention due to the “occult/satanic” angle. I do remember feeling that this is entirely a case of “wtf were the cops thinking?” and “these guys were convicted because of their clothing and music choices.”
It reminds me in a lot of ways of the [Tim Masters](Tim Masters) case.

That judge was a joke. The whole trial was a joke. It would be great to see those kids finally get some due process, but the state of Arkansas will still have stolen the prime of their life from them simply because they wore black T-shirts and listened to heavy metal. Just a disgraceful, shameful case, and the worst thing is that none of those who railroaded them will ever have to suffer any consequences.

I’m happy for these [del]kids[/del] middle aged guys. This was one messed up case.
Interesting note from this week on the Tim Masters case ([correct url](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peggy_Hettrick_murder_case)) - the two prosecutors in the original case are both now district judges in Ft. Collins, and the voters shit-canned both of them on Tuesday, the only judges in the state not to be returned to office. Good for you, Ft. Collins.

I saw those results, and did a little happy dance. I can’t possibly imagine what Masters must feel during that whole situation.
