C’mon! I’m sure someone not familiar with them would think hair metal, speed metal, and black metal all sound the same… as well as shoegazer, grindcore, punk, psychobilly, and every other kind of rock. They wouldn’t think of this as variety between styles; they’d think of this as variety within one style of music.
